Together, women and men from local committees and associations, religious and cultural forces, unions and political processes have opposed privatization of the water carried out in recent years by government policies and in all territories.
Together we formed the Italian Forum of Water Movements and collected over 400,000 signatures in support of a bill of popular initiative la tutela, il governo e la gestione pubblica dell’acqua.
Mentre la nostra proposta di legge d’iniziativa popolare giace nei cassetti delle commissioni parlamentari, l’attuale Governo ha impresso un’ulteriore pesante accelerazione, approvando, nonostante l’indignazione generale, leggi che consegnano l’acqua ai privati e alle multinazionali (art. 23bis, integrato dall’ art. 15-decreto Ronchi).
Non abbiamo alcuna intenzione di permetterglielo.
La nostra esperienza collettiva, plurale e partecipativa è il segno più evidente di una realtà vasta e diffusa, di un movimento vero e radicato nei territori, che ha costruito consapevolezza collettiva e capacità outreach, social awareness and alternative proposals.
We call upon all and all for a national rally in Rome Saturday, March 20, to block the privatization policies of gestoione water, to reaffirm the value of the common good and universal human right, a campaign for public management and participatory, to ask the approval of our law of popular initiative, to say all together "The water out of the market."
In our experience of movement to water, we have always acted with the knowledge that what we want to impose on the water and in each territory is only one piece of a much more extensive covering all common property, across the entire planet and wants to market the lives of people.
The continuing economic crisis, employment, environmental, food and democracy, is the testimony dell'insostenibilità the current model of production, consumption and life.
The recent failure of the UN summit in Copenhagen is just the latest example of the inadequacy of liberal policies and merchant ships, unable to respond to the rights and needs of humanity.

Significative mobilitazioni popolari, capaci di proposte alternative nel segno della democrazia condivisa, stanno tenacemente contrastando la politica delle “grandi opere” devastatrici dei territori, una gestione dei rifiuti legata al business dell’incenerimento, un modello energetico dissipatorio e autoritario, basato su impianti nocivi ed ora anche sul nucleare.
Rappresentano esperienze, culture e storie anche molto diverse fra loro, ma ugualmente accomunate dalla voglia di trasformare this unsustainable social model, defending the common good against the commodification, work against its cost reduction, health against all harm, the territories against environmental devastation.
We call all these realities together to build the national demonstration on Saturday 20 March.

We think that the event, as well as being an important and unifying moment of struggle, determination and intelligence to put the issue of participatory democracy, which is the inalienable right of all ride-and decide to participate in water management and common goods , land and energy, health and social welfare.
